Horsham Sports & Community Club $50,000 Sponsorship

Nov 19, 2024 | ClubHub, Publications

At the 33rd Annual General Meeting, Horsham Sports and Community Club President, Dan Smith and General Manager, Glenn Carroll announced that the successful recipient of the Major Community Project Sponsorship of $50,000 are Christian Emergency Food Centre (CEFC) for the purchase of a commercial van to transport food to those in need.

In their application for the sponsorship CEFC mentioned “Some of these [current] vehicles are limited and not very suitable for the task. The CEFC would like to purchase a commercial van that volunteers can use for these food collections. This will allow for easier collection of donated and purchased goods. The transport of these goods will also be safer. Because of restraints with space, some of our non-perishable foods need to be stored off-site. A vehicle will assist us to transport these goods from storage to the Food Centre as required.”

HSCC President Dan Smith, “The Club is so proud to support its community in many ways and we thank the 639 members who participated by voting for their favourite project. Both projects, the Lake Marma Innovative Water Playground and Christian Emergency Food Centre Vehicle, were very well supported and extremely worthy. Congratulations to the CEFC on receiving the most votes and securing the $50,000, we know the vehicle will make life so much easier for the volunteers at the CEFC”

CEFC Client Assessment Manager, Bev Miatke shared her gratitude by expressing the following

” Thank you so much to the Horsham Sports & Community Club for their generous sponsorship to purchase a van for the Food Centre. It means so much to the volunteers here who would normally use their own vehicles to pick up food from our generous community partners all around Horsham. Volunteers pick up food daily from supermarkets and bakeries and ferry purchased and stored goods to and from the centre. A van will streamline this process considerably. Thank you also to everyone who voted for our project – it means so much to have your support!”

Horsham Sports and Community Club would like to say thank you to everyone who partook in the voting process. We look forward to seeing the amazing work CEFC does for the community, and we are proud to be able to assist them in the purchasing of a commercial van to transport food to those in need.
