Are you seeking to take the reins of a multi-faceted club and utilise your skills and experience to put your mark on its future directions?  If so, the position of General Manager at the Anglesea Golf Club should be on your radar!

Boasting approximately 800 golfing members and 350 social members, the Anglesea Golf club features an outstanding 18-hole golf course, 3 recently built town houses for accommodation, driving range, mini golf, internationally acclaimed kangaroo tours, and a licensed clubhouse with facilities including a bar, bistro and gaming operations with 34 EGMs. (The Pro Shop, mini golf and Bistro are currently operated by third parties)

The club is looking to appoint a dynamic and operationally focused Club Manager who has excellent communication and ‘people skills’, with a proven capacity to lead a business and achieve the club’s strategic objectives and business priorities.

This represents a rare opportunity for an experienced Club Manager to make a difference and continue to drive the growth and development of the Anglesea Golf Club. This role offers an attractive salary, and a unique lifestyle choice, located in a much sought after regional beachside community along the iconic Great Ocean Road, with access to excellent facilities and services.

The Manager’s responsibilities will include:

  1. Overall effective management and efficient operation of the club, including human resources, finances, governance, systems and processes, townhouses, golf course and facilities
  2. Development of strategies to enhance the profitability of the club, including maximising current income streams; increasing membership and sponsorship; having an active social calendar to encourage increased patronage; and identifying new opportunities
  3. Active support of sub-committees to continue to implement initiatives to enhance the club
  4. Maintaining effective relationships with members, corporate sponsors, and other key stakeholders
  5. Active engagement with the Golf Professional and Bistro operator to ensure a co-operative relationship and an appropriate level of services are provided
  6. Promotion of the club to build our profile and encourage greater utilisation of the club’s facilities
  7. Monitoring policy changes and trends in golf, gaming, and hospitality to ensure AGC is strategically placed to maximise opportunities and minimise risks
  8. Ensuring compliance requirements are met, including gaming, employment, liquor licencing, OH&S, and workplace safety
  9. Acting as Secretary to AGC Board and Town House Co and efficiently carry out associated responsibilities
  10. Other duties as directed by the Club President and Board

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven staff, business and hospitality management skills, preferably at a golf club and/or gaming venue
  • Excellent written and communication skills and a customer service focus
  • Capacity to work effectively with key stakeholders
  • Ability to use marketing, communication and social media to achieve positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience working in a membership organisation with the capacity to address issues and grievances arising
  • Demonstrated capability to innovate, manage change and contribute to the strategic directions of a business
  • Possess a high level of business ethics and integrity
  • Knowledge of governance processes and compliance requirements pertaining to a golf club with a gaming venue
  • Experience with IT systems, Microsoft Office products and MYOB (or similar)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Be a golfer, or at a minimum have a good understanding of the game of golf

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold or be eligible to attain:
  • Authorised person for the Club’s Gaming Licence
  • Nominee for the Club’s Liquor Licence
  • Industry Gaming Licence
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Accreditation
  • Advanced Responsible Service of Gaming Accreditation
