Ocean Grove Bowling Club: A Transformative Redevelopment and 70 Years of Community Legacy

Ocean Grove Bowling Club (OGBC) has officially commenced its $6 million redevelopment, which will transform the club into one of Victoria’s premier bowls and entertainment destinations. The new precinct will serve as a vibrant hub for bowls, entertainment, and community connection, ensuring it remains a valuable asset for generations to come.
Significant milestones have been reached in the construction of OGBC’s state-of-the-art 16-rink undercover bowling structure, which is on track for completion in August 2025. The greens have been successfully demolished, the site cleared, and foundational work is progressing steadily, marking key steps toward the transformative redevelopment.
OGBC CEO Nathan O’Neill emphasised the Club’s commitment to delivering a redevelopment that will provide lasting value to their members, reinforcing their purpose of enhancing community connection.
“We’re thrilled with the progress to date and remain committed to delivering a world-class facility in 2025,” said Nathan O’Neill. “The redevelopment represents a bright future for the club, the community, and the region.”
Through the redevelopment, the Club aims to attract major events, boost regional tourism, and drive economic growth across Ocean Grove and the wider Geelong area. “This is more than just an upgrade of our facilities. It’s about delivering a vision that benefits not just our members, but our entire community to promote connection, wellbeing, and social engagement,” added O’Neill.

OGBC thanks its members and the community for their continued support during this exciting period of growth. The club acknowledges the current strain on parking but is pleased to announce that new car spaces will soon ease this issue. “Later this month, we’ll be expanding our car park to provide easier and more convenient parking for our members,” said O’Neill.
The redevelopment project will be a central focus at the club’s 70th Anniversary event this Saturday night, where over 150 members and special guests will celebrate seven decades of achievements while looking toward an exciting future. OGBC Chair John Gibcus sees the event as an opportunity to honour both past and present members and offer a glimpse of the club’s ambitious vision for the future. “Our 70th Anniversary is a time to reflect on the extraordinary journey of this club, honour those who have shaped our story, and look forward to an innovative new chapter,” said Gibcus.
