Able Day on the Bay

Feb 27, 2024 | ClubHub

Since 2006, Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron (BMYS) has been at the helm of an inspiring event – Able Day on the Bay. This annual occasion caters to individuals with varying deafness and blindness disabilities from Able Australia, a not-for-profit organisation providing diverse adult disability services and community support for seniors.

On Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, BMYS celebrated the 11th edition of this heartwarming event. After a hiatus due to Covid restrictions, former Commodore David Bell’s efforts ensured the event’s return in 2023.

Benefiting from perfect weather, Able Australia clients and their caregivers enjoyed memorable boat rides on the bay, courtesy of BMYS Club members. Vintage car rides around Beaumaris added an extra layer of joy, thanks to the generosity of Club members John Humphris, Simon Bartaby, and Gary Tradargh.

Lunch at the downstairs Sports Bar was a shared experience for all participants, including the Club volunteers. Special thanks go out to club members whose generosity contributed to the success of this remarkable day. With 2023 marked as another successful chapter. The Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron looks forward to the return of Able Day on the Bay in 2024, continuing its commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
