Doxa Community Club was founded by Father Joe Giacobbe for one purpose, to provide funding, through the operation of their venues, to the Doxa Youth Foundation to finance their great work in the community.

Since 2017, Doxa Community Club has donated an amazing $10 million in cash to the programs of Doxa Youth Foundation. Since 1992, this figure has exceeded $40 million. The donations continued during the recent lockdowns as the need for support within their community was greater than ever.

Doxa Youth Foundation provides programs which offer positive life experiences, education opportunities and employment pathways to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and schools across Victoria. The organisation was established in 1972 by Father Joe, who was then working with some of Melbourne’s most disadvantaged communities. He decided to establish a camp at Malmsbury to give these young people a positive life experience, possibly for the first time. From its humble beginnings, hundreds of people have worked together to help make Father Joe’s dream of lasting change for disadvantaged young people a reality.

Today Doxa Youth Foundation offer camps for disadvantaged young Victorians in Malmsbury and Melbourne City, facilitate cadetships for disadvantaged young Victorians commencing university, and assist in funding the Doxa School at Bendigo.

In addition, Doxa Community Club through Melbourne City Council has a close relationship with Brendan Nottle and the Salvation Army. Doxa donates $100,000 per year to assist the Salvation Army with their Homelessness programs within Melbourne CBD.

In 2018, Doxa completed the renovations of its Clocks venue, based in Flinders St Station. More recently as a COVIDsafe measure, Clocks created an outdoor area on the concourse of Flinders St Station, which also accommodates live entertainment every Thursday to Sunday.

This year, Doxa will complete its major renovations of Central Point (previously known as The Meeting Place) which entails a larger gaming area, café on Elizabeth St, renovated first floor restaurant, installation of a lift and enhanced leisure areas.

The renovations and initiatives at both Doxa venues led by its long-term Chairman; Melbourne identity Peter Maher ensures the future funding of Doxa Youth Foundation.
